Supreme Court dismisses Al-Mustapha’s Kudirat Abiola case

The Supreme Court has dismissed Lagos State’s attempt to re-open Major Hamza Al-Mustapha’s (rtd) 1996 Kudirat Abiola murder trial, ruling the state abandoned the case after nine years of inaction.

Al-Mustapha was acquitted by the Court of Appeal in 2013, overturning a 2012 death sentence.

The ruling ends Lagos State’s bid to challenge the acquittal.
