Sultan expresses concern over Tinubu’s “ceremonial” deployment of security chief to Borno
The sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III has criticized the president recent directive to Nigerian security chiefs to relocate to Borno state, describing it as improvident and “ceremonial”.
The sultan while speaking to officially declare Friday as Eid al-Fitr as well as the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, condemned the recent terrór attacks in Borno state which kîlled more that 20 persons and injured many.
He lamented over the terrór attacks, urging Nigeria security forces to intensify the war against insecurity by taking the war to the terrórists rather than waiting for them for them to carry out their viólence before they act.
He emphasized that proactiveness on the side of the military is necessary for routing terrórism in the region, criticizing the passive directive by president Tinubu to the security chiefs to relocate to Borno state following the painful terrör attacks in the state.
Relocation of Army and other security chiefs should not be ceremonial. Take the war to the terrorists where they are. Don’t wait for them to strike before defending or finding remedies,” he stated
We condemn this new wave of bomb attacks in the strongest terms and charge the military and other security and intelligence agencies to step up efforts to nip terrorism and insurgency in the bud”, he stated.

The sultan while lamenting the the bómb attacks, rethorically asked whether the Nigeria’s insecurity has aggravated: “Are we now back to the bad old days?”
The sultan reaffirmed his stance that terrórism is not part of Islam and stating that it negates Islamic teaching and ideals.
It is un-Islamic and not recognised by Islam. It should not be attributed to Islam,” he said.
He urged the Nigerian government to use everything within it power to tame terrórism in the country, stating that Nigerians of all ethnicity, religion, and location deserve effective security.
The monarch extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the attack as well as to the government of Borno state.
He enjoined Nigerians to remain law abiding, peaceful and supportive to the security operatives in their effort to restore security across the country.
