State Govt Approves Recruitment of 2,600 Forest Guards Amid Rising Bandit Attacks

The government of Kwara State has authorized the hiring of 2,600 more forest guards to bolster security throughout the state.

The additional staff will enhance the efforts of the 700 forest guards currently collaborating with security agencies to combat banditry in the Kwara North and South senatorial districts.

In a statement released on Thursday, Akeweje Fafoluyi, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor, confirmed that incoming recruits would participate in rigorous training.

Mr. Fafoluyi stated that the 2,600 new forest guards set to begin training this week will receive advanced military instruction, encompassing sophisticated weapons handling and modern strategies for neutralizing battlefield threats.

He noted that the initiative highlights the governor’s dedication to fortifying security infrastructure throughout the state and eliminating criminal elements to achieve lasting peace.
