Son of Former President Dies

Michael Reagan, son of former United States President Ronald Reagan, has died at the age of 80.

The Reagan family confirmed his death in a statement on Tuesday, saying he passed away on Sunday in Los Angeles while surrounded by family members.

“Michael was and will always remain a beloved husband, father and grandpa,” the family said. “Our hearts are deeply broken as we grieve the loss of a man who meant so much to all who knew and loved him.”

Michael Reagan, one of the late president’s five children, was a conservative political commentator, author and nationally syndicated radio talk show host.

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute described him as a “steadfast guardian” of his father’s legacy.

“Michael Reagan lived a life shaped by conviction, purpose and an abiding devotion to President Reagan’s ideals,” said Fred Ryan, chairman of the foundation’s board. “He used his voice to champion freedom, personal responsibility and the principles that defined his father’s presidency.”
