Singer Teni reveals why she can’t give people money on friday

Teni, a well-known Nigerian musician, has sparked debate on social media after disclosing the peculiar reason she doesn’t give out cash on Fridays.

The singer said in a widely shared video that she doesn’t give out cash on Fridays since people frequently use it to buy pepper soup.

Speaking in Pidgin English, Teni said: “Me I no dey give anybody money on Friday. No no no, if you give person money on Friday, them go use your money go chop pepper soup ooh.”

She related a recent incident in which she provided money to someone and they used it to buy a big plate of catfish pepper soup.

She said the man had first stated that he needed the funds to launch a business.

Teni also said that if someone wants to gift money to someone, it’s best to do it on a Monday while they’re still planning their week.

Her video went viral very quickly, generating a wide range of reactions from online users with differing viewpoints.
