Seyi Makinde sternly warns PDP members, reveals implications of reconciling with Wike faction
Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has warned the members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) desirous of a reconciliation with the Nyesom Wike’s faction of the PDP to be wary of the implication.
Governor Makinde in a press conference with Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed, reiterated his earlier claim that Nyesom Wike had promised president Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he will “hold the PDP down for him”.
He advised those who wish to reconcile with the Nyesom Wike’s faction of the PDP to know that reconciling with him amounts to working for president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection as the Wike’s faction of the PDP is working for the president’s reelection.
I think you represent the nation newspaper. I hope your newspaper will report this as we’re saying it and not burn there. I came in the public domain to say that I was in a meeting with Wike and Mr. President, and he promised to hold PDP for Mr. President towards 2027″, he said in response to a question by the Nation Newspaper journalist.
Anyone dealing with a Wike and his group In any case, what it means is you have also agreed to support President Tinubu for 2027.
We need it for Nigerians to judge if you can be in their camp where they’ve promised that they are supporting the President”.
He added that he does not begrudge the Wike’s PDP faction for their supporting president Tinubu but noted that he should have joined the president’s political party (APC) to fully support the president.
He alleges that national institutions such as the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) appear to have taken side with the Wike’s faction of the PDP necessary to frustrate genuine efforts to redeem and reposition the party as a viable alternative to the ruling party.
We’re not begrudging them. You can support whoever you like to support, but go to them if you want to support them. That is our position. They have the government behind them. They have the judiciary behind them. They have INEC behind them, but we have the people behind us”.k to top button
