Senator unveils radio station, promises jobs

The senator representing Osun Central, Olubiyi Abdulazeez Fadeyi, has unveiled Ajagunnla Radio 101.1 FM in Ila Orangun, Osun State, pledging that the station will drive job creation and socio-economic development in the area.

According to a statement on Thursday signed by his Special Adviser on Digital Media and Publicity, Adekanola Desmond, the lawmaker said the project is not a constituency initiative but a personal investment.

He described the project as the fulfilment of a long-held vision by the senator, adding that it reflects his commitment to providing “timely, credible, and people-oriented information” to residents.

The lawmaker added that the station, located in Ila Orangun, operates on 101.1 FM, is designed as a commercial platform offering news, entertainment, and public information.

He said the station would create employment opportunities for locals and support small and medium-scale enterprises by increasing their visibility.

“Ajagunnla FM is a full commercial radio platform intended to serve the collective interests of the people and stands as a lasting legacy for Igbomina land.

“The privately funded radio station is equipped with modern broadcasting facilities and is expected to improve access to information across the state,” the statement read.

He said the station has already begun test transmission, broadcasting daily between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, while work continues to finalise its facilities ahead of full operations.

Fadeyi added that the initiative would help promote cultural heritage, foster unity, and enhance development across the region.

“Upon full commencement, the station is expected to deliver diverse programmes tailored to its audience, positioning itself as a leading voice in community broadcasting in Osun State,” the statement added.
