Security Operatives Arrest Seven Bandits On Benin-Agbor Road In Edo, Recover AK-47 Rifles
The suspects were intercepted after being offloaded from a truck at about 1800 hours on December 2, 2025.
Seven suspected bandits have been arrested along the Benin–Agbor Road in Edo State during stop-and-search operations.
The suspects were intercepted after being offloaded from a truck at about 1800 hours on December 2, 2025.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing to recover actual firearms and establish the suspects’ involvement in criminal activities.
According to security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, all the suspects were Fulani youths.
He explained that during searches, incriminating evidence was found on their phones.
He said, “A search revealed pictures of assault rifles, including AK-47s, on their mobile phones.”
On questioning the suspects about their origin, Makama revealed that they claimed to have travelled from Adamawa State.
He said, “Upon interrogation, the suspects claimed to have travelled from Adamawa State.”
Makama also highlighted the role of the public in assisting security agencies to prevent crime.
He stated, “Security agencies have urged members of the public to report any suspicious movements to help prevent criminal acts in the area.”
Security authorities have intensified operations along major highways in Edo State as part of efforts to curb banditry.
Residents and commuters have been urged to remain alert and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure public safety.
