Rival cultist stabs teenager to death in Delta

A suspected cult attack has reportedly resulted in the death of a teenager identified as Rama in the Ibusa area of Delta State.

PUNCH Metro learnt from a post on NaijaConfra, an X (formerly Twitter) page dedicated to advocacy against cultism and street violence, that the incident happened on Monday.

According to the report, the attacker, identified as Ikechuckwu, allegedly stabbed Rama during a violent confrontation.

The platform added that Ikechukwu had since been arrested after the incident.

“Earlier today, Naija Confra received reports of a BKB incident that occurred yesterday involving the NBM (Aye) cult group in Ibusa, Delta State. The Aye attacker, identified as Ikechukwu, alias Iyke Donkwa, reportedly stabbed the victim, known as Rama, after an altercation. Sources confirmed that the attacker has been arrested.”

In a separate video seen by PUNCH Metro on Wednesday, the deceased was seen lying motionless on a hospital stretcher.

He was, however, said to have been buried the same day the incident happened.

A Facebook user, Favour Angel, while reacting to the development wrote, “Most of the fracas in Ibusa are caused by the junior ones before the senior will involve themselves.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, could not be reached as calls made to his telephone line were not responded to. A text message set to him had yet to be replied to as of the time this report was filed.

The development comes amid rising cases of cult attacks in the Delta State and the southern part of the country.

PUNCH Metro reported in September that troops of the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 1, Joint Task Force, South South, otherwise known as Operation Delta Safe, neutralised a notorious suspected cultist, while another one, identified as Stephen Fragene Pessu, was arrested.
