Police Rescue Children Brutalised By Dad In Abuja, Recover Pump-Action Gun, Drugs From Suspect
A 45-year-old man, identified as David Tersoo, who was found in possession of a pump-action gun and suspected hard drugs, was also arrested, according to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command said its operatives have rescued two minors and their mother from a violent domestic abuse situation in Mpape, Bwari Area Council of the Territory.
A 45-year-old man, identified as David Tersoo, who was found in possession of a pump-action gun and suspected hard drugs, was also arrested, according to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.
She explained that the incident occurred on September 9, 2025, after the police received a distress call alleging that Tersoo had assaulted his eight-year-old daughter and her three-year-old sister, while forcing their mother and nine-month-old baby out of the house in the middle of the night.
According to Adeh, the Commissioner of Police immediately dispatched operatives from the Mpape Division alongside the Command’s Gender Unit.
“Working with officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs, they rescued the children — one of whom was found with visible bruises — and later traced their mother, who has now been placed in protective custody with her children.
“The suspect, a contractor with a known history of domestic violence, initially locked himself behind a bulletproof door while armed. After sustained efforts, officers subdued him without casualties.
“A pump-action firearm, white powder, and other substances suspected to be narcotics were recovered from the house. Police sources confirmed that the suspect has been taken for drug testing as investigations continue.
“The Commissioner of Police commended the role of vigilant neighbours and the Ministry of Women Affairs in preventing what could have been a deadly situation. He urged victims of domestic violence to speak out, promising that the Command would remain committed to protecting vulnerable residents and ensuring justice.
“Investigations are ongoing,” she added.
