Police find missing EKSU student alive in Osun State
The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed that a 21-year-old Ekiti State University student, Damilola Praise, who was earlier reported missing, has been found alive.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, disclosed this in a statement obtained by Western Post, noting that the student was located following directives issued by the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo.
Damilola was said to have travelled from Lagos to Ado-Ekiti on January 5, 2026, and briefly contacted his parents upon arrival before his phone lines became unreachable, triggering concern among family and friends.
Following the report, the police said the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department was immediately mobilised to track his whereabouts.
Operatives later traced the student to Osogbo, Osun State, where he was found after what the police described as a painstaking investigation.
During interrogation, Damilola reportedly told investigators that he was neither abducted nor kidnapped but deliberately stayed away from his parents due to challenges with his academic performance.
The police added that the student had already secured a job with a private security firm, while the commissioner cautioned members of the public against spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.
