Police arrest 95 suspected cultists, recover arms in Edo
The Edo State Police Command has arrested 95 suspected cultists during a week-long operation across various parts of the state, as part of its renewed crackdown on cult-related activities.
The state’s Police spokesman, CSP Moses Yamu, disclosed this in a post on X on Friday, stating that 64 of the suspects have already been charged to court and remanded in custody.
“For the past week, @EdoPoliceNG arrested 95 suspected cultists. 64 of the suspects were charged to court today and remanded, while investigation is ongoing,” Yamu said.
He revealed that firearms and ammunition were also recovered during the raids.

“1 single barrel shotgun, 2 locally made pistols, and 24 cartridges were recovered,” the statement added.
According to the command, the arrests were made during coordinated raids on suspected cultists’ enclaves across the state.
Yamu noted that the operation is ongoing and would be sustained to rid the state of criminal elements.
“Raids of their enclaves continues,” he said, emphasizing the command’s determination to clamp down on criminal gangs threatening public peace.
This development comes amid growing concerns over cult-related violence in the state, with security agencies stepping up efforts to curb the menace through intelligence-led operations.
