Peter Obi reveals the reason Nasir El-rufai remains in detention
Former governor of Anambra state and 2027 presidential hopeful, Peter Obi has attributed the reason for former governor Nasir El-rufai’s continued detention to “political persecution” by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidency.
While speaking today at African Democratic Congress (ADC) stakeholders meeting in Kaduna State, Peter Obi declared that former governor Nasir El-rufai is being persecuted for his allegiance to the opposition party.
He argued that his continued detention is in violation of the Nigeria’s constitution. According to him, Nasir Elrufai who voluntarily arrived Nigeria from Egypt to honour invitation from Nigeria’s anti-graft agencies, is being treated as though he were a fugitive.
He called on the Nigeria’s authority to follow the country’s constitution and charge Nasir El-rufai to court if need be or release him to reunite with his family.
It is a political persecution. We have a law, and that law allows for people to be treated with dignity until they are found guilty. Let our law prevail,” Peter Obi stated.
