PDP Postpones Ekiti Governorship Primary Ahead of November 11 INEC Deadline
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of its Ekiti State governorship primary election earlier scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
The decision was made to allow for further consultations and logistical preparations, according to party insiders. Although a new date has not yet been officially announced, party officials confirmed that the exercise will still hold before the November 11 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for political parties to conduct their primaries and submit the names of candidates.
INEC’s guidelines stipulate that all parties must conclude their primary elections on or before November 11, 2025, to ensure timely compliance with the electoral timetable ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.
The postponement has generated mixed reactions among party stakeholders. While some see it as a strategic move to resolve internal disputes and ensure a more transparent process, others fear it could heighten tensions among aspirants already gearing up for the contest.
The PDP is expected to release a new schedule for the rescheduled primary in the coming days.
