Pastor Rɑpes 17-year-old Daughter, Blames It on ‘Generational Curse’
A Magistrate’s Court in Akure, Ondo State, has ordered the remand of a 42-year-old pastor, Samson Ajayi, for allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter for over four years.
Ajayi, a father of five, was arrested after his wife reported him to the police in Igoba. She reportedly became suspicious when she returned home one day to find their matrimonial bed in disarray. After much persuasion, the teenager confessed that her father had been assaulting her since 2021.
The suspect was later arrested at a prayer mountain and arraigned on two counts of rape and defilement. Prosecutor Supol Martins Olowofeso told the court that the offenses contravened the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law of 2021.
Ajayi, while in the dock, admitted to the act but claimed he was driven by a “generational curse,” saying his father had also abused his biological daughter. “I didn’t know what came over me,” he told the court.
His counsel, Kehinde Osadugba, pleaded for settlement, insisting that the victim’s mother had forgiven him since he was the family’s breadwinner. Magistrate Taiwo Lebi, however, dismissed the request, noting that the pastor’s confession provided sufficient grounds for remand.
The court ordered that Ajayi be kept at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The case was adjourned to November 20 for further hearing.
