Pandemic China promise to contribute $2bn to be used for the global pandemic purposes

On Monday the 18th of May 2020, the Chinese president Xi Jinping said that government of China will contribute a sum of two billion dollars over the next two years for the global fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Chinese president during the World Health Organization’s annual conference, he said “the proposed money won’t only be used for health measures but also for development aid for affected countries who had lost a lot due to the pandemic”. He also urged other nations to increase their funding to the WHO because he believed that it is the WHO that should lead in the global response since the UN agency is facing a shortfall because the US has suspended its financial contributions
