OWOKA HAILS AIYEDATIWA’S ASTUTE LEADERSHIP, SAYS ONDO APC IS ON PATH TO LONG-LASTING STABILITY

…Commends Governor’s inclusive style, likens Ondo GAC to Lagos model, pledges to build on gains if elected APC State Chairman

Dr. Olajide Owoka, frontline aspirant for the Ondo State APC Chairmanship seat, has lauded Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for what he described as “astute, inclusive, and visionary leadership” in steering the affairs of both the state and the ruling party.

Owoka’s remarks follow two landmark gatherings in Akure — the maiden meeting of the Ondo State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) on August 9, 2025, and the Leaders Caucus meeting on August 1, 2025 — both convened by Governor Aiyedatiwa to entrench unity, strengthen the APC, and align governance with party ideals.

The Political Importance of the GAC
The Governor’s Advisory Council is a body of trusted and reliable leaders of thought in the state, composed of experienced political figures who have served in high capacities. Their role is to offer counsel, share their wealth of experience, and help bridge the gap between the government and the party.

According to Owoka, the GAC is not just a meeting forum — it is a political stabilizer. He drew parallels with the GAC in Lagos State, a council widely credited with sustaining the APC’s dominance for over two decades by ensuring constant dialogue, conflict resolution, and policy guidance.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa is building an APC in Ondo State that will stand the test of time, just like what we have in Lagos. A functional GAC brings stability to the party, enhances unity among leaders, and ultimately drives development in the state. This is strategic leadership at work,” Owoka said.

The maiden GAC meeting, chaired by Chief Pius Akinyelure with Hon. Isaac Kekemeke as Secretary, discussed state development, party growth, and ways to prevent divisions ahead of the 2027 general elections. Leaders such as Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, Pastor Bankole Oluwajana, and Chief Jamiu Ekungba praised the Governor’s open-mindedness, prudent management of resources, and commitment to reconciling all tendencies within the party.

Unity at the Core
Just days earlier, Governor Aiyedatiwa had convened the APC Leaders Caucus meeting, ending with the launch of the Ondo State for Tinubu 2027 structure, adoption of the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, and a resounding call for all groups to work under the supremacy of the party.

Owoka noted that these back-to-back high-level engagements show a Governor who understands the importance of party cohesion and stakeholder consultation.

“This is the type of political architecture we must institutionalize at all levels. As I offer myself for service as the next APC State Chairman, I am inspired by the Governor’s example. I will consolidate these gains by deepening grassroots engagement, promoting collegiate leadership at the local level, and ensuring that every ward and polling unit feels the impact of party unity,” Owoka assured.

He further pledged that, if elected, his administration would work hand-in-hand with the Governor and other stakeholders to maintain stability, strengthen internal democracy, and sustain the APC’s winning streak in Ondo State.

With past and present deputy governors, senators, speakers, and party stalwarts in attendance, the two recent meetings are already being viewed as a turning point for fostering harmony between government and party — a model Owoka says he will champion to make the APC in Ondo State “as enduring and successful as the Lagos template.”
