Osun: 3 injured as APC, PDP clash over supreme court judgement
No fewer than three persons have sustained various degree of injuries as members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), clashed at Otan-Ayegbaju, Boluwaduro Local Government Area (LGA).
The president of Otan-Ayegbaju Progressive Union (OAPU), Adetunji Mosebolatan, in a statement, Sunday, condemned the fracas and warned politicians not to disrupt the peace of the community.
“My attention has been drawn to an unfortunate upheaval which led to the political unrest between the two opposing parties in Otan Ayegbaju on the 5th of December, 2025.
“Enough of this senseless destruction of public disturbance as we are not the only Town in the community hence we should allow peace and tranquility to reign for our social, economic and political developments.
“Otan has been noted for its politics with bitterness from the time immemorial which has largely affected our socio-economic and political growth.
“We create panic, fear and more enemies amongst ourselves which has not yielded any fruitful dividend over the years.
“It is pertinent to mention here that most towns and villages in the community are making steady progress in all areas of human lives. They enjoy dividend of democracy to its fullest irrespective of the party affiliation they represent.
“It is high time we reflect internally as individuals so as not be left out in the scheme of things,” Mosebolatan said.
He urged residents to live in peace and harmony irrespective of the difference in political party, advising political leaders to urgently respond to crises to prevent escalation.
Findings showed that the issue started on social media when the two parties started making jest concerning the judgment or the court that dismissed the suit filed by the Attorney General of Osun State against the Attorney General of the federation.
A source in the town explained that an aide to governor Ademola Adeleke made a comment that infuriated one Adetunji Kazeem, an APC member.
He said, “the governor’s aide previously directed aggressive comments at the APC member, Adetunji Kazeem, on social media, and later issued an apology for those remarks.
“It has also been reported that, following this online exchange, the aide and others allegedly confronted the APC member’s wife, during which she was assaulted and her property damaged.
“The incident escalated into an unprovoked attack that left her injured. She promptly went to the police station to file a formal report. It was only after learning of her complaint that the governor’s aide reportedly submitted a counter report.
“The attached images are said to show her injuries, the damaged phone, and screenshots of both the initial online attack and the subsequent apology.
“We urge the authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation so that the facts can be fully established and due process can prevail.”
