Osinbajo Was Tinubu’s Lawyer, He Was Helping Tinubu While Gani And Keyamo Were Fighting Him —Sowore
Nigerian activist Omoyele Sowore has asserted that former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was Bola Tinubu’s lawyer for years and assisted him at a time when Gani Fawehinmi and Festus Keyamo were in a legal battle against Tinubu over his certificate.
Sowore made this claim during an interview on Symfoni TV while responding to a question about why several former activists who once opposed those in power now work with them.
He mentioned political figures such as Bayo Onanuga and Festus Keyamo, noting that many individuals who once positioned themselves as critics of government have now aligned with the same power structures they previously criticized. He argued that these actors were fully aware of Tinubu’s records yet chose to stand by him.
Sowore also mentioned that Professor Osinbajo was once working within the civil society circles while he was a professor during the military era but later transitioned into a role within the government.
He dismissed the notion that people like these were good people and later became bad politicians, insisting that many of them were driven by ambition and simply waited for access to power.
Sowore further reacted to recent remarks by Festus Keyamo criticizing opposition activists and journalists. He asserted the Keyamo he once knew during his time at Gani Fawehinmi’s chambers no longer exists.
In his words, “That’s what I’m saying. These guys, they didn’t even start from Festus Keyamo. It started with the likes of Osinbajo. Osinbajo was Tinubu’s lawyer for a long time. He was the one who was helping Tinubu while Gani and Keyamo were fighting him over his certificate.”
“They knew everything about Tinubu, all his activities. They were the ones who aided and supported him. You’ll be surprised; at that moment, Osinbajo used to be in the social, I mean, in the civil society room, and he used to be a professor.”
