Ondo Government Dismisses PDP Claim Of ₦531billion Supplementary Budget, Says It’s Revised Version

The Ondo State Government has dismissed claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa submitted a ₦531billion supplementary budget to the State House of Assembly, describing the allegation as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Comrade Allen Sowore, the government described the PDP’s allegation—made by its Director of Media and Public Communications, Mr. Wande T. Ajayi—as “baseless and mischievous.”
According to Allen, what is currently before the State House of Assembly is not a supplementary budget but a revised and restructured version of the ₦698.6 billion 2025 Budget of Recovery, which had already been passed and signed into law.
“The review became necessary because some anticipated funds from development partners have yet to materialize, and the fiscal year is fast coming to an end. In line with prudent financial management, the government decided to recalibrate the budget to reflect a more realistic revenue profile and ensure a fairer allocation of state resources across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
“For clarity, what is before the Ondo State House of Assembly is not a supplementary budget. It is a revised and restructured version of the ₦698.6 billion 2025 Budget of Recovery—which had earlier been duly passed by the Assembly and signed into law by the Governor.”
He explained that the review became necessary due to the non-materialisation of some anticipated funds from development partners as the fiscal year draws to a close.
The adjustment, he said, was aimed at reflecting a more realistic revenue profile and ensuring equitable resource distribution across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
He accused the PDP of spreading deliberate misinformation and urged the opposition party to verify its claims before rushing to the media.
Allen assured residents that Governor Aiyedatiwa remains committed to due process, the rule of law, and sound financial management, stressing that his administration would not engage in any act that undermines fiscal integrity.
The government, therefore, called on the PDP and other opposition groups to focus on constructive engagement rather than what it described as unnecessary hoopla over non-existent issues.
Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that the Ondo State chapter of the PDP accused Governor Aiyedatiwa of attempting to “rewrite facts and hoodwink the Ondo people” through what it described as a deceptive move to disguise a ₦531.7billion supplementary budget as a mere “revision” of the 2025 Appropriation Law.
According to the PDP, the document in question “clearly lists a Bill for a Law to Amend the 2025 Appropriation Law seeking authorization for an additional ₦531,767,261,000 broken down as ₦254,448,081,000 for recurrent expenditure and ₦277,319,180,000 for capital expenditure.”
