Ondo association visits AFUED VC, seeks partnership
An Ondo State-based association, the Indigenous General Contractor Association (IGCA), has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola in the institution.
Receiving the delegation led by the Chairman of IGCA, Mr. Akinbola Andrew, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that the institution is committed to building a strong partnership, ” that aligns with its vision of achieving sustainable growth ”.
The University Administrator, also emphasized the importance of laying a solid foundation that would guarantee the future of the institution, stating that “every decision taken today, would shape tomorrow’s legacy”.
Prof. Popoola also spoke on the need to have enduring values that places emphasis on the attainment of good name, noting that credibility and trust are two critical assets required by both the institution and individuals for effective partnership.
He, therefore, assured the contractors that his administration would support any partnership that “uphold transparency, integrity and excellence”.
Earlier in his remarks, the IGCA Chairman, Mr. Akinbola Andrew, thanked the Management of the University for giving opportunities to his association to contribute their quota to the development of the institution.
He harped on the need to sustain the relationship, stating that there are some benefits that could be derived by the University, through continuous partnership with his association.
Mr. Akinbola listed some of the benefits to include good service delivery through the use of local expertise for execution of jobs, provision of employment opportunities, stimulation of economic growth in the institution as well as engaging in social responsibility, that would be of great advantage to the University.
His words: “We understand the peculiar conditions, regulations and operational needs of this institution. We have provided flexibility to the University in the execution of jobs awarded to us by working in advance with an agreeable payment term, thereby ensuring early completion of projects given to us”, he remarked.
The IGCA Chairman, however, pledged on behalf of the association, the readiness of its members to continue to partner with the institution’s Management, in their drives at promoting the growth of the University.
The event which was held at the Old Council Chamber in the University was attended by some Principal Officers of the institution including the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola and Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin.Also present was the Chairman IGCA, Mr. Akinbola Andrew and other members of the association.
Others who also witnessed the occasion were staff of the University from the office of the Vice-Chancellor as well as the Directorate of Information and Public Relations.
