Official: Morocco captured as 2025 AFCON champions on FIFA rankings

FIFA’s latest live rankings have been updated to reflect the Confederation of African Football decision to award the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title to Morocco national football team following the forfeited final against Senegal national football team.

The official records on FIFA’s live ranking portal now list the final as a 3–0 win for Morocco, giving the Atlas Lions the continental crown.

Morocco’s points now total 1,754.59, with an increase of +18.02 points credited to the team for the match.

The update comes after CAF ruled in Morocco’s favour, citing Senegal’s walk-off during the Rabat final on January 18.

CAF regulations allow for a team to forfeit a match if it abandons play, which led to Morocco being declared champions.

While FIFA has not formally announced the update, the live ranking tool has already incorporated the outcome.

Official rankings are scheduled to be released on April 1, but the live figures signal FIFA’s implicit recognition of CAF’s decision.
