Obedience key to God’s divine insurance, protection — Adeboye
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said access to God’s “divine insurance” is conditional on obedience, which he described as “paying your premium.”
Adeboye made the statement on Sunday, February 1, while preaching at the church’s headquarters in Lagos, Church Times Nigeria reported.
“Let nobody deceive you. The summary of all Jesus’ teachings is that nothing goes for nothing. You have to pay your premium if you want God’s divine cover. Jesus says give, and it shall be given to you. Salvation is free because Jesus paid for it,” he said.
He explained that the “premium” refers to full obedience to God’s principles and commands as outlined in Deuteronomy 28.
According to him, “the premium is to obey God’s command, which is doing what He asked you to do. You cannot access that insurance cover if you’re not paying your premium.”
Adeboye said that while there are many insurance companies with different policies, God’s coverage is unique and incomparable to any offered by human institutions.
“There is no insurance for sleep. I have not seen such. God is the only one that can give you sleep,” he said.
Referring to Psalm 23 and Psalm 91, Adeboye described them as templates for God’s insurance policy.
“Not only does He provide for you, He gives you cover for sleep,” he stated.
He also said God’s insurance includes satisfaction, noting that material wealth does not guarantee contentment.
“You can have everything and still not be satisfied,” he said, citing the example of a wealthy man who was reportedly caught shoplifting in the United States.
He also mentioned a popular socialite who struggled with an uncontrollable urge to eat from a dustbin, praying against such afflictions in the lives of his listeners.
Adeboye further said that divine insurance covers guidance and wisdom. “God gives you insurance that covers you when you need advice. You don’t need to worry. If you need wisdom, you just ask. He has insurance for everything you need.”
According to him, God’s insurance also extends beyond death. “The world has no insurance policy for the world to come. But God guarantees that as soon as you surrender to the Lord Jesus, according to John 3:16.”
He warned, however, that the insurance remains valid only for those who continue to remain in Christ.
