Nyesom Wike Gives New Strict Conditions To Halt Fubara’s Impeachment–Fubara’s Ally Reveals
A political ally to embattled governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara alleges that former governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike has reportedly given new conditions for halting the ongoing impeachment proceeding against governor Siminalayi Fubara
According to the Fubara’s ally who leaked the development to the Reliant.ng, Nyesom Wike new conditions which he described as stringent, includes that governor Sim Fubara must immediately approve the list of names he gave to him for the position of commissioners in his administration.
The source explained that following the reinstatement of governor Sim Fubara, his deputy and the members of the Rivers state House of Assembly at the end of the six month emergency rule in the state, former governor Nyesom Wike nominated seven persons for commissioner, mandating the governor to approve the nomination and send the names of the nominees to the state assembly for ratification.
However, Fubara was hesitant to sending the nominees’ names to the state assembly because he wanted to see how the council elections would play out.
Due to the manner the council elections was hijacked by Nyesom Wike, his loyalists sweeping all the 23 LGA and wards even when the his post emergency rule agreement with Wike entailed that he be given a few slots, governor Sim Fubara decided not to approve Wike’s commissioner nominees.
Hence, Nyesom Wike has reportedly among other conditions, insisted that governor Sim Fubara must approve the names he nominated for commissioners as one of the conditions for the impeachment proceeding to be halted.
Secondly, Wike demands that governor Sim Fubara must publicly declare that he will not seek reelection in 2027. He considers governor Sim Fubara’s reelection bid a major threat to his political relevance in Rivers state and is determined to ensuring that he frustrates Fubara’s reelection ambition.
Thirdly, Wike demands that the current chief judge of Rivers state, Hon. Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi must be removed while he (Wike) will nominate another judge for the position of the Rivers state chief judge–his new nominee will be ratified by the Martin Amaewhule’s led House of Assembly.
According to the source, the removal of Hon. Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi as the chief judge of Rivers is to facilitate easy impeachment of governor Sim Fubara if the pro-Wike Assemblymen so desire to do so in future.
The source also added that Nyesom Wike and his political allies are currently seeking an order from a federal high Court in Abuja to mandate the Rivers state House of Assembly to continue with the impeachment proceeding against governor Fubara even when a federal high Court can not vacate the order of a state high court as both have concurrent jurisdiction.
