NNPC Boss Ojulari breaks silence on Resignation Rumors with Virtual Appearance
The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Bayo Ojulari, put an end to swirling resignation rumors by attending an official event on Monday.
PUNCH Online reports that Ojulari participated virtually in a Society of Petroleum Engineers Nigerian Council event, his first official assignment since the rumors began. This appearance directly addresses the speculation about his departure from the national oil company.
While the presidency and the company have yet to issue an official statement, Ojulari’s last in-person function was a town hall meeting with NNPCL staff in Abuja.
Ojulari, whom President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed on April 2, 2025, replaced former GCEO Mele Kyari as part of a major company overhaul. The NNPCL recently celebrated Ojulari’s first 100 days in office, highlighting significant achievements.
In a performance review shared on its social media platforms, the NNPCL lauded Ojulari’s administration for reaching major milestones in upstream partnerships, infrastructure development, energy transition, and corporate governance.
The company described the period as one of “steadfast commitment and forward movement,” stating that the new leadership had delivered strategic wins in profitability, refinery rehabilitation, transparency, and employee welfare.
The post read, “We are pleased to announce a key milestone as NNPC Ltd. progresses under the leadership of the Group CEO, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari. The report card is out, and the first 100 days of the Group CEO is a testament to steadfast commitment and forward movement.”
Under Ojulari’s leadership, the NNPCL has strengthened its collaboration with upstream partners, achieved growth in oil and gas production, and ensured 100 percent pipeline availability, a crucial metric for securing revenue flows.
