Nigeria’s Army Chief visits Sokoto a day after US airstrike on terrorists
Barely a day after the precision-guided strikes on terrorists in Sokoto State, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, made a visit to the state.
In a Facebook post on its verified handled, the Army Headquarters said that the visit was on Friday, 26 December 2025.
The post added that as part of the visit, Gen. Shaibu paid a courtesy visit to His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, the Sultan of Sokoto, at his palace in Sokoto State.
It stated that the visit highlighted the renewed commitment of the Nigerian Army to strengthening civil-military relations and fostering collaboration with traditional institutions in support of national unity, peace and security.
During the visit, it further revealed, General Shaibu reaffirmed the resolve of the Nigerian Army to work closely with community leaders to promote stability and coexistence across the country.
In a remark, His Eminence Abubakar 111 commended the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices and continued efforts in safeguarding lives and property, and prayed for sustained success in its constitutional responsibilities.
