Nigerian Youth Unions’ Government Commends President Tinubu, Calls for Strategic Security Reforms at Abuja Press Conference
At a landmark press conference held today, December 5, 2025, in Abuja, the Nigerian Youth Unions’ Government (NYUG), alongside leading youth bodies including the Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria, Arewa Youth Federation, Igbo Youth Council, Oduduwa Youth Parliament, Niger-Delta Youth Front, Youth Assembly of Nigeria, National Association of Nigerian Students, North Central Youth Congress, and others, collectively voiced their position on pressing national issues.
The coalition expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recent decisive actions in the defence sector, commended his steadfastness amidst political pressures, and presented key recommendations aimed at strengthening national security, governance, and youth development.

A PRESS CONFERENCE HELD TODAY, 5TH DECEMBER 2025 IN ABUJA POWERED BY NIGERIAN YOUTH UNIONS’ GOVERNMENT (NYUG) with the Leaderships of Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria, Arewa Youth Federation, Igbo Youth Council, Oduduwa Youth Parliament, Niger-Delta Youth Front, Youth Assembly of Nigeria, National Association of Nigerian Students, North Central Youth Congress, etc all in attendance.
We the National leadership of The Nigerian Youth Unions’ Government (NYUG) in conjuction with all member Youth bodies in Nigeria wish to sieze this opportunity to lend our voice for National interest.
Firstly we to thank the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for listening to our voice of reason and acting swiftly in appointing a military veteran with combat experience as Minister of Defence.
In the same vein, we want to salute President Bola Tinubu for retaining the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle and giving deaf ears to litany of campaigns of calumny against him by opposition actors who are frightened by the unwavering bravery of Dr. Matawalle and his undieing resolve to stand by Mr President’s mandate against all odds.
In recognising Experience and Capacity, the Combination of General Christopher Musa (Rtd) and Dr. Bello Matawalle as the drivers of the Ministry of Defence is very commendable.
We are happy that Mr. President understands the power game so well and he knows that his political rivals are hell bent on seeing his core Lieutenants like Nyesom Wike, Bello Matawalle, Yakubu Dogara, Femi Gbajabiamila, Abubakar Momoh displaced, so as to have ample and easy grounds to over-run the Renewed Hope systems.
Again, Mr President’s appointment of Ambassadors is a raw testament of his resolve to strengthen Nigeria’s ties with our foreign counterparts for shared collaboration for economic, security and general developmental advancements.
We urge Mr. President to further look inwards and replace the National Security Adviser with someone who has military and intelligence background, preferably from the DIA, NIA or DSS as there is this underground notion of the security system of our country not being in conformity with having a retired police officer as National Security Adviser where we have renowned intelligence, military and combat veterans who can change the narrative for the better if given the opportunity.
As stakeholders in Nation building, we wish to advise that President should investigate further the animosity within the Nigerian Police Force. If the Inspector General is due for change, let him give way for more vibrant persons to come onboard and exercise fresh ideas for progressive change as we can not keep using same old ideas and expect any new result.
State Governors should be held accountable for persistent insecurity activities of any form in their states. Infact Mr President should hesitate to declare state of emergency in any state where insecurity persists.
To our dear President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it is time to.appoint a functional Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth and Talent Development, to aide you maximally in the area of Youth purpose fulfilment and development as you have our support on any move to uphold the true essence of brotherhood irrespective of tribe, religion or region, bettering the lots of Nigerians, promoting true justice where no one is oppressed so as to enable you hand unto us a banner without stain Sir.
