Nigerian Police Kill Three Lakurawa Terrorists In Gun Battle In Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, who explained that the operation was launched after the bandits invaded the community.

Three members of the Lakurawa terror group have been killed in Gorun Yamma village, Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State, following a joint security operation.

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, who explained that the operation was launched after the bandits invaded the community.

According to him, a combined team of policemen and vigilantes engaged the attackers in a gun battle which lasted for hours.

He said the confrontation led to the killing of three of the terrorists, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds.

“On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Kamba, SP Mohd Bello Lawal, immediately mobilised a combined team of Policemen and vigilantes to the scene and engaged the group where three of them were killed,” the statement read.

The security team also recovered an unregistered red Honda motorcycle, popularly known as ‘Boko Haram’, which was abandoned by the fleeing bandits.

The statement added that the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Bello M. Sani, praised the Divisional Police Officer of Kamba and his team for what he described as their diligence, bravery, and swift response.

“He urged them to sustain the existing synergy amongst them with a view to curbing the emerging activities of Lakurawa terror group and other violent crimes in the state,” it added.
