Nigeria Won’t Be Intimidated — Tinubu Responds to Trump’s Military Threat

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has insisted that Nigeria will not be intimidated by international pressure following renewed allegations of Christian genocide and a threat of potential U.S. military action issued by President Donald Trump.

In a statement posted on his verified X account on Friday, Tinubu maintained that Nigeria would continue to assert itself on the global stage with “calm, clarity, and a strong sense of purpose,” despite mounting foreign scrutiny.

The President acknowledged that terrorism remains a long-standing national challenge but assured Nigerians that his administration is fully committed to defeating insurgency once and for all.

“We are indeed faced with terrorism a challenge Nigeria has faced for almost two decades, and we will not back down. We will decisively defeat terrorism and claim victory in this battle,” Tinubu said.
“Security is non-negotiable, and we will never compromise on this principle. With unwavering courage and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law, we will prevail.”

Tinubu also urged Nigeria’s international partners to strengthen collaboration with the country, noting that sustained support remains essential to consolidating progress already made in the security sector.

His remarks come days after U.S. President Donald Trump warned that he had instructed the Pentagon to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria if the government “continues to allow the killing of Christians.” Trump also designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over allegations of widespread persecution.

Tinubu’s response signals a firm stance from the Nigerian government as global attention intensifies around the country’s security situation.
