National Assembly Commission Appoints New Clerks For Senate, Reps

 

According to Ireporter Online, the National Assembly Service Commission (NASSC) has confirmed the appointment of Emmanuel Odo as the substantive Clerk of the Senate, while Ibrahim Sidi has been elevated to serve as the acting Clerk of the House of Representatives. iOS Apps

 

The appointments were among key resolutions reached during the Commission’s 19th meeting held on Monday, January 20, 2026. The Commission recalled that Odo was previously approved as the Acting Clerk of the Senate on September 16, 2025, a role he has since occupied pending formal confirmation. His latest appointment officially affirms his position as the substantive Clerk of the Senate.

In a related development, the Commission approved the appointment of Ibrahim Sidi as the acting Clerk of the House of Representatives, with effect from February 9, 2026. Sidi, who previously served as a Director of Administration within the National Assembly, is set to replace Yahaya Danzariya, who is due to retire from service on February 8, 2026.

The Commission also sanctioned additional appointments and redeployments of officers into various consolidated positions within the National Assembly Service.
