Mob Allegedly Attacks Amotekun Office, Officers Injured, Firearms Stolen

A mob on Monday evening allegedly att@cked the Egbedore Local Government Command headquarters of the Osun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, in Awo, leaving several officers injured and fire@rms reportedly stolen.

The incident allegedly occurred around 8:00 p.m. when a civilian fled to the Amotekun office seeking refuge after being chased and assaulted by suspected hoodlums.

The victim was said to have been returning from a local eatery when he encountered an individual linked to a prior disagreement stemming from a football-related altercation the previous day.

According to the PRO of the agency, “eyewitnesses claimed the suspect mobilised a group of att@ckers arméd with machetes and other dangerous we@pons.

“The victim reportedly escaped and ran into the Amotekun facility, where officers on duty intervened and provided protection.

“However, the situation was said to have escalated when the att@ckers allegedly regrouped in large numbers and launched a coordinated ass@ult on the command headquarters.

“During the att@ck, the mob reportedly vandalized the facility, destroyed equipment, and injured officers who attempted to defend the premises.”

The assail@nts were also said to have allegedly breached the facility, further att@cked the victim, and made away with firearms belonging to the command.

Amotekun personnel were reportedly able to repel the att@ckers and restore calm.

Five suspects were allegedly arrested at the scene and have been transferred to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Awo for further investigation.
