Meet the Richest Nigerian man in diaspora – Adebayo Ogunlesi

The richest Nigerian in diaspora, Adebayo Ogunlesi, doesn’t have any shop. He’s a lawyer and investment banker.

Here are some of his businesses:

1) He owns 49% of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) which was acquired at a whooping sum of $20.7 billion.

2) He acquired London City Airport through his private equity investment firm, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).

3) In 2009, he acquired London Gatwick Airport for £1.455 billion. It’s one of his major assets.

4) Ogunlesi led GIP to acquire a 43% stake in Tower Vision India, a key player in telecom infrastructure in India. Don’t play.

5) He’s leading the company that manages Edinburgh Airport, the busiest airport in Scotland. He is bullish on effective management and strategic investment in global aviation infrastructure.

6) As the chairman of GIP, Ogunlesi acquired a majority stake in Nuovo Transporto Viaggiatori (NTV), the premier high-speed rail service in Italy.

Ogunlesi has served in economic advisory committee to President Trump. He seats on the board of directors for OpenAI. He is the senior managing director of BlackRock.

He was born in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria. He’s married to a British woman. He’s an American.

Like the Oyo State anthem would: Asiwaju ni wa. Yoruba has given Nigeria many great men.
