Matheus Cunha could face FA ban for incident against Arsenal

Matheus Cunha is at risk of the ban from the Football Association following his incident against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Matheus Cunha has been a key player for Manchester United since his arrival at the club during last year’s summer transfer window.

Cunha, previously of Wolverhampton Wanderers, has made 21 appearances for the Red Devils in his time at the club so far, scoring five times and providing two assists.

Furthermore, one of these goals was against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday where the Brazilian scored the winner with a right footed strike into the far corner.

With this goal, United climbed to fourth, a position that holds qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

As well as this, the win means that the Red Devils have won twice in two matches until Michael Carrick, adding to his excellent record as Manchester United manager.

However, now, Matheus Cunha is at risk of receiving a ban from the Football Association due to his actions in the celebration to the goal.

In the celebrations, Cunha appeared to shout something into the Sky Sports camera.

After this, Peter Drury (who was commentating on the fixture) stated: “If you heard some bad language in among the celebrations, for that we apologise.”

According to regulations set out by the Football Association, “offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures” warrant a sending-off offence.

Furthermore, these guidelines additionally specify that the FA possesses authority to implement separate disciplinary punishments when incidents are captured on camera and are shared to a viewership on television.

Meanwhile, swearing straight into a camera lens constitutes a “clear and deliberate” breach of conduct that damages the reputation of football.
