Mass Protest In Oyo As Residents Kick Against Governor Makinde’s Landgrabbing Plot For Ibadan Circular Road

Residents of Oyo State, along with members of the African Action Congress (AAC), are protesting against Governor Seyi Makinde’s alleged plan to grab more land for the Ibadan Circular Road project. The protesters claim Makinde is seeking to seize an additional 500 meters of land on both sides of the corridor, beyond the initial 150 meters already taken, which they believe is intended to benefit his allies.

The AAC has accused Makinde’s administration of betraying public trust by selling seized lands to political associates while displacing poor homeowners. The party has vowed to resist the alleged land grab, mobilizing residents and civil society groups to occupy Ibadan until the government abandons the plan.

Governor Makinde has assured residents that the government will adhere to the initial 150-meter setback, established by former Governor Lam Adesina, and has halted further demolitions or property markings outside this area .
