Man sentenced to 12 Years in jail for Defiling His Landlord’s 11-Yr-Old Daughter

A Delta State High Court sitting in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area, has sentenced Ernest Okporu to 12 years’ imprisonment for def+ling his landlord’s 11-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred in March 2024 at Osubi community in Okpe Local Government Area of the state.

Okporu, 41, reportedly asked the minor to bring his phone charger from his apartment. He allegedly followed her inside, restrained her, and s+xually a+sa¥lted her.

Delivering judgment on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Justice S. I. Okeleke found Okporu guilty and sentenced him accordingly.

The conviction was confirmed by Kelvin Ejumudo, Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Human Rights, who said the child remains traumatised by the incident.

Okporu was convicted under the Vi%lence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law of Delta State.
