Man Jailed 1 Year For Stealing TV In Ekiti

A magistrate’s court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has sentenced a 24-year-old man, Friday Johnson, to one year in prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing a 43-inch Hisense smart television valued at N265,000, belonging to one Amos Samuel.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant on December 22, 2025, conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace and stole a television contrary to Section 302 and 181(d) of the Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Bamidele Ajibade, sentenced the defendant to a one-year jail term on count one, with an option of a N20,000 fine, while he was discharged on count two.
