LG Chairman Joins Troops in soldier uniform to Battle and Confront Bandits in community Forest

In a rare and courageous display of leadership, the Chairman of Rijau Local Government Area in Niger State, Hon. Danladi K. Uganda, has drawn national attention after joining Nigerian Army troops on a mission into the forests of Rijau to confront armed bandits terrorizing the region.

Photos shared by his Media Aide, Muhammad Sale, on July 19, 2025, show the Chairman clad in full military camouflage, shoulder-to-shoulder with soldiers and security operatives as they advanced deep into forested areas that have witnessed repeated attacks by criminal elements.

The move has sparked widespread admiration, with many describing it as an act of uncommon bravery and a show of true solidarity with both the military and the embattled communities of Rijau. Locals praised Hon. Uganda’s presence at the frontlines, saying it has boosted morale and demonstrated that leadership is not about staying in offices during crises but standing with the people.

According to reports, the Chairman’s participation in the operation is aimed at giving direct support to the troops and helping reclaim communities that have long been under siege.

“This is the kind of leadership we need—leaders who are not afraid to confront insecurity head-on and inspire confidence among citizens,” one resident remarked.

Security analysts also believe such gestures send a strong message to both criminals and citizens—that communities are not alone in the fight against insecurity and that the leadership is actively involved in the search for lasting peace.

Rijau, like several other areas in Niger State, has faced the brunt of banditry in recent years, with villagers often forced to flee and farmland abandoned due to fear of attacks. With this bold move, many are hopeful that the tide may soon turn.
