Lawyer Gives Update on Trial of Arise TV News Anchor Somto Kîllers

Barrister Najib Adamu Usman has given details about the ongoing trial of suspects in the death of Arise Tv news anchor, Somtochukwu Maduagwu.

 

Barrister Najib Adamu Usman on 21st of January through his X account, revealed that the suspects in the death of Somtochukwu Maduagwu were on the 10th of January arraigned before Federal High Court, Abuja. He stated that the suspects are charged with armed robbery and murder of the deceased news anchor at Arise Tv.

“The suspects that killed Somtochukwu Maduagwu are currently arraigned on amended Charges filed on 10th January before the FCT High Court. Aside from the killing of the Arise News Anchor, they are charged with armed robbery involving other residents at the estate where Somtochukwu was killed”, Barrister Najib Adamu Usman stated.

 

He revealed that the suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges against them, prompting the presiding judge to adjourn the case to February 9th, 10th and 12th for definite hearing, and ruled that the suspects be remanded in Kuje correctional facility.

 

 

“All of them pleaded not guilty.Matter is adjourned to 9, 10 and 12 February, 2026 for definite hearing. Defendants to be remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility”.

Barrister Najib Adamu Usman added that he feels happy that the case was scheduled for three straight days for hearing, describing the timeline for the hearing of the case commendable as it amounts to swift trial
