Lai Mohammed In Stunning Revelation, Reveals How He Helped Tinubu Win 2023 Election

Former minister of culture and information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has revealed his contribution to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential election victory in 2023 while he served in president Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.

Lai Mohammed revealed in his new book: “Headlines and Soundbites: Media Moments that Defined an Administration”, that he used his position as minister of information and culture to carryout a far-reaching media campaign that inadvertently helped president Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate in 2023 to win.

Lai Mohammed pointed out that although former president Muhammadu Buhari had issued directive to his cabinet members in 2022, urging them not to abandon their ministerial responsibility for political campaigns, he was able to use his position to enhance the image of the APC government through strategic media campaign that highlighted the notable accomplishment of the APC administration. He explained that this strategic media campaign countered false narratives that were promoted by the opposition parties against the APC government thereby convincing the masses to vote for the APC’s presidential candidate.

“Fully aware of the insidious nature of this campaign, I adopted a two-pronged strategy: to systematically showcase the administration’s achievements and to decisively counter the opposition’s misleading narrative”, Lai Mohammed wrote in his book.

“The goal was to present verified accomplishments of the Buhari administration and shape public perception during a politically critical period.

“Under the programme, ministers presented concrete, evidence-based reports on their respective sectors.

“Each session includes a robust question and answer segment during which journalists critically interrogated the presentations and sought clarifications”
