Lagos 2027: APC considers Ambode return as Seyi Tinubu bid shifts to 2031

APC power brokers in Lagos are reportedly weighing a return of former governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the 2027 governorship, a move that could delay Seyi Tinubu’s ambition to 2031.

Sources say the Governance Advisory Council is considering Ambode or Education Minister Tunji Alausa to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who completes his second term in 2027, citing zoning concerns from Epe.

Although Seyi Tinubu has been touted by youth groups, party leaders are said to prefer he focuses on supporting President Bola Tinubu ahead of 2027 to avoid backlash.
