Kwankwaso Says Tinubu Is To Be Blamed For Nigeria’s Insecurity, Not Nigerian Soldiers, Give Reason
Former governor of Kano state and leader of the kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has blamed president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Nigeria’s aggravating insecurity, stating that the Nigerian armed forces are not to be blamed because they have proven their competence in foreign operations.
Kwankwaso made this remark while speaking to newly commissioned members of the Kano state neighborhood watch. According to him, the Nigeria’s current insecurity challenges is as a result of lack of “political will” from the commander in chief of Nigeria’s armed forces to rout insecurity.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso recalled his experience from serving as minister of defense, citing that the Nigeria’s armed forces are competent and proven. He said when Nigeria’s military are deployed to a foreign country for peace keeping, or for military intervention, they perform exceptionally well in a manner that they can not replicate domestically. Kwankwaso blamed this anomaly on president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing inadequate training and military equipment as well as manpower.
Kwankwaso explained that the population of the Nigeria’s military is outrageously below the country’s security needs. Hence, he enjoins the Nigeria’s president to consider recruiting not less than one military persons into the Nigeria’s armed forces while also ensuring adequate training and provision of arms and ammunition.
He suggested that existing states’ security outfit can be absorbed into the federal security forces as a veritable means of improving Nigeria’s security.
“The capacity of our officers and men is proven, What we are lacking today is political will, especially from the Commander-in-Chief. He must provide the military and other security agencies with adequate training, recruitment, equipment, arms, and ammunition to effectively combat insecurity”, he stated
He emphasized that the federal government ought to intensify its effort in protecting Nigeria’s, stating that protection of lives and property is the primary responsibility of the government.
Kwankwaso thereafter expressed his optimism about the 2000 newly recruited neighborhood watch corps, stating that they will contribute immensely in providing security to the Kano state residents while also monitoring Kano state borders with communities of other states battling insecurity.
“Not only in the northwest, but across the country, additional armed security forces are needed to support the military and other agencies. It is the federal government’s primary responsibility to protect the people and ensure peace and stability for development.”
