Katsina Emirate Appoints Ex-Buhqri’s Minister, Governor’s Son, Others as District Heads

In a significant traditional reshuffle, the Katsina Emirate Council has appointed former Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika, and five others as new district heads across various local government areas of the state. Sirika, who served in the federal cabinet under President Muhammadu Buhari, was named Marusan Katsina, District Head of Shargalle in Dutsi Local Government Area. The appointments, announced on Saturday, reflect the emirate’s efforts to integrate influential personalities into grassroots leadership roles.

Also among the appointees is Umar Radda, son of the incumbent Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda. He assumes the traditional title Gwagwaren Katsina and will serve as the District Head of Radda in Charanchi Local Government Area. Other notable appointments include Sanusi Kabir-Usman as Karshin Katsina (Shinkafi, Kaita LGA), Ahmad Abdulmumini-Kabir as Dan-majen Katsina (Dankama, Kaita LGA), Abubakar Dardisu as Sarkin Mudurun Katsina (Muduru, Mani LGA), and Gambo Abdullahi as Dausayin Katsina (Dabai, Danja LGA).

The Secretary of the Emirate Council, Alhaji Bello Ifo, who disclosed the development, noted that the appointments were made with the approval of the Katsina Emir, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman. According to him, all the newly installed district heads are expected to resume their responsibilities immediately. The move underscores the Emirate’s strategy to blend political experience and royal lineage in preserving traditional institutions and enhancing local governance.
