JUST IN: Pressure Mounts on Atiku, Amaechi To Step Down For Peter Obi To Defeat Tinubu In 2027 -Maxwell Opara

Abuja-based human rights lawyer, Maxwell Opara, has called on opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, to support the Labour Party’s Peter Obi in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on the future of the opposition in Nigeria, Opara argued that for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to be defeated, personal ambitions must be set aside for a consensus candidate. He posited that Peter Obi currently commands the organic followership required to challenge the incumbent.

“If the opposition is serious about taking back power, they must unite. Atiku and Amaechi are respected leaders, but the current political reality favors Peter Obi. They should step down and back him for the greater good,” Opara reportedly stated.

He warned that a fragmented opposition would only play into the hands of the ruling party, urging the political class to learn from the outcome of the 2023 elections.

The lawyer’s comments come amidst growing calls for a merger or coalition among opposition parties to form a formidable force against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
