Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, emphasized the importance of a fair and inclusive process in selecting his successor for the upcoming Governorship election in 2024.
He stated that his administration’s primary focus is to complete its term on a strong note. Governor Obaseki made it clear that he does not see it as his role to handpick or anoint his successor.
He underscored the need for fairness, equity, and inclusivity in the selection process to maintain unity within Edo State. He believes that this approach is crucial to uphold the state’s integrity.
Regarding his relationship with the State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, the governor clarified that there are no personal animosities. He views the issues at hand with clarity and without personal bias.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed that the Edo governorship election is scheduled to take place on September 21, 2024.
