JUST IN: I Just Returned From Ghana, And I Just Pitied Our Country Ghana Is Far Ahead Of Nigeria—Prof. Okaba.
The President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Prof. Benjamin Okaba, has stated that Ghana has overtaken Nigeria in economic stability, during an interview with The Sun on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
He described the situation as a sad reversal of history.
Prof. Okaba, who recently returned from Ghana, said he was shocked at the progress made by the country compared to Nigeria.
According to him, Ghana is now ahead in areas where Nigeria once had the advantage.
He explained that the tables have turned, and Nigeria is now struggling where it used to lead.
He recalled a time when Nigerians mocked Ghanaians during the “Ghana Must Go” era.
He said the situation is now different because Nigerians are the ones leaving their country to seek survival elsewhere.
He stressed that this shows how badly Nigeria has been managed over the years.
The INC leader pointed out that Nigeria has become dependent on countries that once relied on it for support.
He said the current reality is that people who once begged Nigeria for help are now in better positions while Nigerians are struggling to survive.
Prof. Okaba insisted that the main reason for this decline is poor leadership.
He said Nigeria has not been able to use its resources wisely, and this has weakened the nation’s economy.
”I just returned from Ghana, and I just pitied our country. Ghana is far ahead of Nigeria in terms of economic stability. There is now a reversal. We used to have Ghana must go, but today it’s now Nigeria must go, because we are unable to manage ourselves. People that begged us yesterday, but today, we are hanging on to them for survival,” he said.
