Just In : Abubakar Confirmed Dead
A tragic incident unfolded at Darawa quarters, Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State, involving eight students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), resulting in the untimely demise of Abubakar, a 200-level student from the Computer Science Department.
This heart-wrenching event was triggered by a heated dispute among the students over a romantic involvement with a female student.
The incident occurred on Thursday around 1:20 pm. ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the spokesperson for the state police command, stated in a Saturday release that the altercation escalated, ultimately leading to the loss of one student’s life. Six individuals linked to the incident have been apprehended.
The police command emphasized its dedication to conducting a thorough investigation, ensuring a fair and just evaluation of the circumstances.
It clarified that rumors circulating on social media about the incident being related to religion are unfounded. The public is urged to refrain from spreading misinformation.
The command is diligently working to gather and analyze all available evidence, including eyewitness testimonies, to establish a comprehensive understanding of the events while upholding the principles of justice and fairness.
“As the investigation progresses, updates will be shared with the public to ensure transparency,” the statement continued.
“We encourage any individual with relevant information about the incident that will assist the investigation to step forward, as all information received will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, while calling on the general public to remain calm, extends his deepest condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragedy and the management of the Federal University Dutsinma.
