INEC speaks on ‘recruitment exercise’

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians to ignore a fake recruitment advertisement currently circulating on social media.

In a statement released on its official X handle on Wednesday, INEC said the fraudulent notice falsely claimed that the Commission was hiring for various positions and directed applicants to a fake portal, inecrecruitment.com, to submit their details.

“The impostor behind this illicit recruitment exercise also asked would-be respondents to log on to an equally fake portal – inecrecruitment.com – to complete their applications. But INEC does not have any such portal,” the statement read in part.

INEC stressed that it has no ongoing recruitment exercise and does not operate the said website, urging members of the public not to fall victim to scammers.

“The Commission hereby calls on the public to disregard this fraudulent call for applications. The Commission is not recruiting. Do not fall victim to the antics of criminal elements,” it added.

The electoral body further advised Nigerians to rely solely on its official website and verified communication channels for credible information.
