IGP Appoints SP Orvenonne Ikwen as New National Coordinator of POCACOV

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of SP Orvenonne Ikwen as the new National Coordinator of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV). The initiative, driven by the Nigeria Police Force, focuses on non-kinetic strategies to curb cultism, drug abuse, gender-based violence, cyber threats, and related social vices.

SP Ikwen, a police officer and security-development practitioner with a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, is widely recognised for her contributions to technology-driven policing and strategic communication. Her appointment aligns with the IGP’s vision for a more preventive, intelligence-led, and community-centred policing model.

The IGP tasked the new coordinator with strengthening community engagement, expanding partnerships across schools, tertiary institutions, youth groups, and local communities, and advancing innovative crime-prevention strategies nationwide.

The announcement was made on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.
