ICPC Reviews Petition Against Ex-Sole Administrator

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed receiving a petition against Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the former Sole Administrator of Rivers State.

Filed by activist Deji Adeyanju on September 23, 2025, the petition alleges that during Ibas’s six-month tenure (March–September), Rivers State received ₦283.3bn in federal allocations but residents saw “little or no tangible development.”

Key allegations:

Cosmetic renovation of the Rivers Assembly complex was the only visible project.

Failure to publish mandatory budget performance reports.

Claiming he was accountable only to the President & National Assembly, not the Rivers House of Assembly.

ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare confirmed that the petition is under legal review.

Interestingly, just days before, Ibas held a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, and Finance Minister Wale Edun.
