I Will Sack Others Before The President Sacks Me – Top Tinubu Minster declares

According to a report from AIT on March 14, 2026, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo has stated that he will take decisive action within his ministry and not allow others to control his responsibilities, emphasizing accountability and leadership in a recent interview on AIT.

Keyamo said during the interview, “Before Mr. President sacks me, I will sack other people too. Because before now, I left the implementation fully to FAAN. But as minister, I take full responsibility. I will not leave my fate in the hands of another person.”

The minister’s remarks reflect his intention to assert direct control over the operations of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other agencies under his ministry. According to him, previous delegation of duties had limited his oversight, but he is now prepared to make critical decisions personally.

Keyamo explained that as a minister, ultimate responsibility lies with him, and he is determined to ensure that accountability and efficiency are maintained within his ministry. He indicated that any actions necessary to improve performance or enforce discipline would be carried out under his authority.

Observers note that Keyamo’s statements come amid ongoing scrutiny of airport operations and management, with calls for reforms to enhance efficiency, safety, and service delivery in Nigerian aviation.

The minister also used the interview to stress the importance of leadership taking responsibility rather than deflecting blame, suggesting that decisive action is necessary to address lingering operational challenges.

Keyamo concluded by reaffirming his commitment to effective governance in the aviation sector, emphasizing that he will personally oversee reforms and not allow bureaucratic delays or mismanagement to impede progress
